Overview

Belchertown Community Energy Choice is a program offered by the Town to provide residents and businesses more electricity supply options and more renewable energy. The Program is the Town-vetted alternative to National Grid’s default supply and other third-party electricity suppliers.

More Ways to Save! In addition to the supply options through the program, discounts are available for low income customers and customers with heat pumps. Learn more below.

Participants in the Program will automatically receive Belchertown Standard, the community default, unless they choose one of the other optional products. To select a different product, click here.

Future savings compared to National Grid Basic Service cannot be guaranteed because future Basic Service prices change every six months for residential and commercial customers and every three months for industrial customers. See National Grid Basic Service supply prices for residential customers here and for business customers here.

The additional RECs qualify for MA Class I designation and come only from solar, wind, anaerobic digestion, and low-impact hydro. RECs are the accepted legal instrument used to track renewable energy generation and to substantiate claims of renewable energy use. Learn more about the product details and renewable energy content here.

If you do not receive a letter, you will not be automatically enrolled. You may join the Program by submitting a request to enroll here

  • Low-Income Discount: National Grid in Massachusetts has transitioned to a tiered low-income discount rate, replacing the previous flat 32% discount. Discounts now range from 32% to 71% based on income level and apply to the entire bill, including the cost of Belchertown Community Energy Choice’s supply. Go to this page to enroll.
  • Heat Pump Discount Rate: Starting November 1, 2025, most electricity customers with heat pumps will receive a discount through National Grid’s ‘heat pump’ delivery rate. This discount applies only to the delivery portion of electric bills, so customers in this community’s aggregation program remain eligible and can enjoy added savings
